Use Tab and Tab+Shift to go through search results
Use Tab and Tab+Shift to go through search results
I think it will be useful if the Tab key can be used to go down through the list of search results and Tab+Shift to go up through the list.
Re: Use Tab and Tab+Shift to go through search results
No, its not useful at all and not found in any tool.
You have Page Up/Down keys for doing this.

Don't we mean, Alt+Left_Arrow, Alt+Right_Arrow ?
(Wonder if that can be changed in, Keyboard?
Yes.
So, experiment & see what you can do.

That is the default behavior on most of the browsers when searching in location bar - Tab go down through suggestions list, Shift+Tab go up.horst.epp wrote:No, its not useful at all and not found in any tool.

Re: Use Tab and Tab+Shift to go through search results
Yes, the search results. Let say you start typing the name of file, and because there are other files that contain the same part of the name you type the file that you want to launch appear on 5 position in the list. So instead typing the whole name of the file you press Tab five times to select the file and then press Enter to launch it. Otherwise you have to continue typing untill the file comes at first position and then press Enter the launch it.horst.epp wrote: But you where talking about the search results ?

I have to admit that I was confused too when you started talking about the seaerch bar (/location bar).emil1234 wrote:Yes, the search results. Anyway, you don't need to (Shift-) Tab through the list. You can use the cursor UP and DOWN keys instead.
If you *must* use the TAB key, goto MEnu:Tools > Options > General > Keyboard and:
- Add TAB to Result List | Item Down. Select Result List from the "Use shortcut in: " dropdown list and
- Add Shift-TAB to Result List | Item Up. Select Result List from the "Use shortcut in: " dropdown list
