Asking regarding taskbar search box progress
Asking regarding taskbar search box progress
Is the taskbar search box feature ready yet? My apology to ask like this since Microsoft keeps causing mess when it comes to implementing the taskbar search box, and this time Microsoft causes the search box unable to display the search at all .
Re: Asking regarding taskbar search box progress
Not yet, it is still under development.
Search the forum for deskband for more details.
A halfway workaround can be found here.
BTW: Some time ago I experimented with this (see bottom right of the picture).
Tried it, but was not impressed.
What is it that so many people want this feature? Can you explain?

Re: Asking regarding taskbar search box progress
That is a bug on the Microsoft servers. The search bar does local search as well as internet serach (Bing/Cortana).
And they &%$&* up the internet part.
Disable the internet component to get it working again:
- Import this regfile.
- Kill SearchUI.exe in TaskManager (it will automatically restart)
Code: Select all
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Search]
"CortanaConsent"=dword:00000000
"BingSearchEnabled"=dword:00000000

I
I see. Thanks for the progress update. I hope that it can be released as soon as possible. To be honest, I hate Microsoft way of implementing the search box mechanism. It tends to broke everything, including the start menu.NotNull wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2020 8:27 pm Not yet, it is still under development.
