I suggest a check box to enable/disable additional folders.
The folders are found at Options > Indexes > Folders.
There is already a similar check box to enable/disable "Excluded" folders (located in the same area of Options).

An option to do this is on my TODO list.
However, it does require an index rebuild.
An "Index Type" property is in development, where you can search for !indextype:"folder" to instantly hide "folder" indexes.
There's no easy method to do this currently in Everything 1.4.

Thanks for the info. Performance (such as time needed for an index rebuild) is not likely to be an issue.
The real issue is having a list of folders, removing them temporarily for the needs of certain searches, and then having to re-select the folders one by one all over again.
My proposal would make it would be to disable the list of folders when necessary and later to re-enable them when needed.
