Add Columns... -> Select Property
Add Columns... -> Select Property
1. Add Metadata category on the left, to show all Metadata Type items.
2. In a case the user wants to add couple of columns... It would be better if instead of the buttons:
[OK] [Cancel] - letting the user choose only one column each time,
will be:
[Add] [Close]
3. The same thing for:
Organize Columns... -> Add...
4. Consider also to enable drag&drop from Select Property window to Organize Columns window.
5. Organize Filters / Organize Bookmarks / Organize Columns dialogs
DoubleClick on an empty space will Add a new one.
DoubleClick on a list item will Edit it.

Re: Add Columns... -> Select Property
Thank you for your suggestions Stamimail,
The problem with this category is it will contain most of the properties as metadata is very general category in Everything.
FYI: the type will give a hint on the read performance of the property.
Content = Slow
File/Metadata/Search/Volume = Fast
Index = Instant
Currently, the Select Property window is a modal dialog. (disables the Organize Columns window)
Double click should already edit the selected item.
Thank you for your suggestions.
I will consider a metadata category.1. Add Metadata category on the left, to show all Metadata Type items.

I will consider an Add button to directly add to the columns.2. In a case the user wants to add couple of columns... It would be better if instead of the buttons:

I will consider drag dropping support.4. Consider also to enable drag&drop from Select Property window to Organize Columns window.

Re: Add Columns... -> Select Property
The default action for Organize Bookmarks, Organize Search History and Organize Run History is to open the selected item.
Re: Add Columns... -> Select Property
Organize Search History and Organize Run History doesn't have Edit .
The default action should be chosen IMHO by the question: For what does the user usually open this dialog? What is he looking to do?
Tested in my v969: DoubleClick edits the bookmark - as I expected.

Re: Add Columns... -> Select Property
I will experiment with Edit as the default action.
For now, Everything uses the same behavior you would find in a web-browser.

Re: Add Columns... -> Select Property
Everything 1.5.0.1285a makes Edit the default action in the Bookmark Organizer.
Do I need to add a Select Bookmark... menu item under the Bookmarks menu? or, is this too much?

Re: Add Columns... -> Select Property
Why would a user want to press this button? After all, all bookmarks are added to the list under the menu.
Just need to find a way to explain to the user how to make sub-menus/sub-bookmarks (tree).
I think this "tree" of bookmarks can be done by using Organize Bookmarks dialog.
After creating/editing the tree in Organize Bookmarks dialog, this Bookmarks tree will be reflected under Bookmarks menu.
Re: Add Columns... -> Select Property
If a user has many bookmarks they may wish to use Bookmarks -> Organize Bookmarks to quickly search for a bookmark.
Select Bookmark (Ctrl + B) should be used instead.
However, the Select Bookmark feature is currently not listed in the menu.
The user might not know this dialog exists.
I would also prefer Ctrl + B open the Select Bookmark dialog over the Bookmarks sidebar.

Re: Add Columns... -> Select Property
You have
View -> Bookmarks (TODO)
that will be
View -> Bookmarks Ctrl + B
In Firefox when I'm pressing Ctrl+H or Ctrl+B I get a sidebar with a ▼ dropdown, that letting the user to switch between:
Bookmarks Ctrl+B
History Ctrl+H
Consider to name the dialog "Bookmarks" instead of "Select Bookmark".
Also consider to add a gear button that will open Organize Bookmarks...
▼ Bookmarks ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✖
I know that in MPC-HC (Media Player Classic Home Cinema) when you are pressing Ctrl+7 you have a Playlist pane. This Playlist pane is draggable, and can be placed as a sidebar at top/bottom/left/right or as float window.I would also prefer Ctrl + B open the Select Bookmark dialog over the Bookmarks sidebar.
You may want to look into it.

Re: Add Columns... -> Select Property
I agree with void with Select Bookmark.
Anyone who doesn't already know about the shortcut (Ctrl+B) might never even find out about the feature. I'll admit I don't use it that often but I think it is a good feature. Although, since the layout is very similar to Organize Bookmarks window, I absolutely wouldn't mind if Select Bookmark and Organize Bookmarks were in the same window but, for example, on different tabs. The main difference between the two is how Organizer Bookmarks window has buttons on the right side and Select Bookmark doesn't.
Or, to make it even simpler, would it be possible to have one more button in the Organizer Bookmarks window with label 'Select'? Organize Bookmarks already has a search function so if you could use it to select bookmarks then that would mean one less window and one less shortcut and it would also already be in the Bookmarks menu. Although, in that case it could probably be called something like "Select and Organize Bookmarks".
Or is this a completely stupid idea?

Sorry I put my post a few seconds before you put your post.

Re: Add Columns... -> Select Property
I personally prefer double click to run the bookmark rather than to edit it.I will experiment with Edit as the default action.
For now, Everything uses the same behavior you would find in a web-browser.
I use select bookmark often to find and run a bookmark, whereas I rarely have to edit a bookmark. This can be done easily through organise bookmarks.
The thing I would like to see is the option to append a bookmark as opposed to replacing what is currently in the search window.
Re: Add Columns... -> Select Property
Everything 1.5.0.1286a makes some changes to bookmarks.
Organize Bookmarks is replaced with Show All Bookmarks.
Default action in Show All Bookmarks is to open the bookmark. (I am going to assume users will open a bookmark more than edit a bookmark)
Alt + Enter = Edit
Enter = Open
Ctrl + Enter = OK (for all dialogs in Everything)
I will look into showing a right pane to edit the bookmark (without the need to open another dialog to edit)

Re: Add Columns... -> Select Property
I sometimes have to search for a bookmark to efit it. The search bookmark brings up the bookmark but if it's in a directory it doesn't show me which directory it's in.
Re: Add Columns... -> Select Property
I have put on my TODO list to add a 'folder' column and the option to view/edit the folder within the bookmark edit dialog.
Thanks for the suggestion.
