I'm trying to puzzle out what "Monitor Changes" and "Include In Database" do.
Does Everything maintain it's own database (I thought it accessed some internal NTFS index direct)?
Does "Monitor Changes" update Everything's own database such that if "Monitor Changes" is turned off then Everything has to do a scan of the volume each time Everything is launched?
Could someone advise on this please or point me to any threads where this is explained.
Thank you!
"Include In Database" and "Monitor Changes"
Re: "Include In Database" and "Monitor Changes"
The VOLUMES tab lists all of your drives.
I believe that if INCLUDE were not checked for a particular drive(s), then those drive(s) would not be searched (INCLUDED).
So long as Everything is up & running, MONITOR tracks all changes in real-time.
If you did not MONITOR, then changes would only be reflected ... not sure, on Everything start up?
So you can exclude specific volumes ("drives") by not including them.
And you can also disable real-time update of changes if you wanted.
Everything does have a database, can't quite remember, but might only be written out when you close everything down? It is not that database that is searched, but the MFT.
If Everything is closed down, it is going to rescan on its restart in any case.
