First of all, @void [insert mandatory groveling here] I'm a huge fan of Everything - it is amazing.
This may or may not even be caused by Everything. It very well might just be a Windows thing - no clue. That said, here's a description of what happens:
1. I run a content search for documents which returns several (~70) results, some of which are .pptx files.
2. I open preview pane and select one of the PowerPoints in the result.
3. I scroll through the PowerPoint.
4. I navigate away from the result to a different result, and the below appears.

So far this has ONLY happens with PowerPoints, but so far it has happened consistently with every PowerPoint. It is not a huge issue at all, but the "Closing..." dialog does take focus away from Everything. I searched the forum to see if this is documented somewhere but found nothing, so I just thought I'd bring it to your attention.
Thanks

Everything 1.5 Alpha issue with preview pane when navigating focus away from .pptx results
Re: Everything 1.5 Alpha issue with preview pane when navigating focus away from .pptx results
1. is this required? as in if you just start with 2. does the same occur?
3. i don't know PP, so when you "scroll" through it, you are advancing, like as you might with a video clip?
4. does the dialog (at some point) close on its' own, or do you need to actually hit Cancel?

What happens if you copy a couple of these pptx files to a test folder and try to reproduce this in File Explorer (with the preview pane enabled of course)?
If things work as expected in File Explorer:
Are you running Everything as administrator? (ADMINISTRATOR will be shown in the title bar).
That could cause this too.

1. No, it is not required.therube wrote: ↑Fri Jul 28, 2023 4:44 pm 1. is this required? as in if you just start with 2. does the same occur?

2. And yes, the same occurs.
3. Scrolling through typically appears similar to a PDF if it were in landscape orientation and in single-page view (rather than continuous).
4. Yes, it always closes. How long it takes varies. **And while it has focus, it prevents me from interacting with the Everything window at all. I get the typical system 'ding' you hear when attempting to click in a program's main window when another dialog (e.g., Browse/Open files menus).
Interestingly enough, the same occurs. Mind you, I have always used the preview pane in File Explorer and this behavior never presented itself before today. I installed Everything 1.5a yesterday. Also, this next part was new as well: a Microsoft Office dialog appeared asking me to sign-in to view the PowerPoint. Before I signed in, the preview pane displayed nothing. This behavior also never presented itself before. Once I signed-in, the PowerPoint I selected appeared in the preview pane; however, selecting a different file caused the same "Closing..." dialog to appear.NotNull wrote: ↑Fri Jul 28, 2023 6:35 pm What happens if you copy a couple of these pptx files to a test folder and try to reproduce this in File Explorer (with the preview pane enabled of course)?

Not running as administrator.
Re: Everything 1.5 Alpha issue with preview pane when navigating focus away from .pptx results
Just wanted to update the thread. I can't remember if I already pointed this out, but I realized the same occurs with File Explorer and preview pane so this definitely isn't an Everything problem but a Windows problem.
