this started with ver. 1.4.1.1023 and has continues as i have uninstalled it and tried 1.43131024.x64 and 1.4.1.1024.x64Lite.
Install seems to go well, no errors or other nonsense.
When I click on Everything to start the mouse cursor spins for about 7 seconds than nothing. ever.
Looking in Task manager there is a task for Ev in Background but never under Apps.
I've tried installing with standard options set. Changed to As Administrator. Without shortcuts (I think) with no change in behavior
1.4.1.1023 was working one day and stopped working with this behavior . I suspected I needed to upgrade but haven't had any luck. The symptom is always the same, no Ev window and no listing under apps in Task Manager.
I turned off AdGuard. No help.
Nothing is showing in Bitdefender either under Firewall or Antivirus.
I'm kind of stumped here.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: reinstall on widows 11 and no program windows opens
I ran SFC and DISM without any errors, while waiting.
Then per your instructions:
In Windows Explorer, type in the following address and press ENTER:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Everything
Delete your Everything.db
Restart Everything.
Could not find the file or the location:
Windows can't find "C:\Users\hiding this for my privacy\AppData\Local\Everything". Check the spelling and try again
At first I thought that the app was uninstalled. Then I saw the desktop shortcut. so I tried to maneuver in explorer to the location, but there was no Everything folder in AppData\Local
So I uninstalled the app thru Settings and rebooted. I installed Everything-1.4.1.1024.x64-Setup again as I have done a number of times already. To my surprise it installed and ran. I then went to the AppData\Local folder and still no Everything folder there. And still isn't.
I looked for everything.db using Everything but it didn't find it. (in my other win 11 machine everything finds it's own DB, but not this one.
Then just to go a bit farther I did the below:
Please make sure Everything is not running as administrator
From the Start menu, search for:
notepad
Right click Notepad and click Run as administrator.
In Notepad, from the File menu, click Open.
Select the following file and click Open:
C:\Program Files\Everything\Everything.ini
Change the following line:
run_as_admin=1
to:
run_as_admin=0
Admin was already 0 and things weren't running as administrator.
So I don't know why it failed thru a couple of boots and different versions, but ATM it seems to be running.
Any idea where the DB is hiding?
Many many thanks!!!!

Re: reinstall on widows 11 and no program windows opens
Everything stores its database in memory.Any idea where the DB is hiding?
The Everything.db is only written to disk when you exit Everything.
You can safely delete the Everything.db as it's just a cache of your filenames.
A bad Everything.db can prevent Everything from loading.
Re: reinstall on widows 11 and no program windows opens
Again many thanks. Love the app. And I only know about 5% of what it can do. I guess I have some learnin' ahead of me.
