Dynamic Keyboard Shortcuts (like GIMP)

One of the best features of GIMP is dynamic keyboard shortcuts - the ability to press a key when you are on a menu and it sets that menu item to that keyboard shortcut (removing the existing for the menu and replacing any existing). I think it should be a standard option on every bit of software.
With Everything ever-growing, I wonder if there would be some prospect of having such a thing too - I've not seen that it's presently there.

I will consider setting keyboard shortcuts from the main menu/popup menus.
