Optimize column sizes

I couldn't find an option in everythings preferences nor in any forum discussions about column sizes.
So i would like to ask for an option to optimize column sizes (except the preview column) in the result list after every search, if possible.
In order to avoid column sizes getting to big, It would be perfect, if one could specify a "maximum column size" in everything preferences, which should not be exceeded.
