Feature Request: Print result list formatted with current columns and column adjusted

Post by pstein »

As far as I can see there is no way to print the current list of found files,

The printed file list should (only) contain all current columns in the order and width and sorting as they are currently displayed.

Exporting them as text file shows e.g. full paths at left side and with no column adjustments.
This is not usable

Could you add this menu/option in next release?

thank you

What is your use-case? You can use the command-line tool ES.exe to output in any format you like.

I will consider a print option from Everything.

Thank you for your suggestion.

For now, please export as a CSV and format in Excel (or other worksheet editor):
  • In Everything, type in a search to limit your results
  • Choose your properties to export by showing/hiding columns (right click the result list column header to show/hide columns)
  • From the Edit menu, click Select All (Ctrl + A).
  • From the File menu, click Read extended information (only necessary if you are showing a column that is not indexed, eg: Date Created)
  • From the File menu, click Export....
  • Change Save as Type to: CSV (Comma delimited) (*.csv)
  • Choose a filename and click Save.
  • In Excel, from the Data menu, from the Import External Data submenu, click Import data....
  • Select your exported csv and click Open.
  • Change File origin to 65001 : Unicode (UTF-8).
  • Click Next.
  • Check Comma.
  • Click Next.
  • Click Finish.
  • Click OK to put the data in the existing worksheet at $A$1.
  • Format the file list and print.
